Volunteer To Work in Africa
Are you a doctor, nurse practitioner, midwife, or nurse who has a heart for giving and travel? Maternal Life is looking for short-term medical volunteers, for 2-6 weeks, to help train clinicians at rural health centers in our emergency obstetrical procedures and our programs in malnutrition and stunting prevention. We will train you in our best practices and place you in a needy clinic as a professional advisor to help reduce and prevent maternal and newborn mortality, and to improve health outcomes for infants and toddlers.
We provide housing, food, and travel insurance, and we ask that you help with fundraising for your travel and supplies for donation to the clinic.
Maternal Life’s Safe Passages program integrates best practices in obstetrical care into a step-by-step training and resource assistance program to address the leading causes of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity: obstetrical hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, sepsis and infection, obstructed labor and anesthesia-related complications.
The program emphasizes practical interventions which can be used in resource-scarce areas.
We provide Cradle Vital Sign Monitors
The Cradle VSA is the world's first medical device to detect shock and high blood pressure in pregnant women could cut maternal deaths in developing countries by up to 25%, saving more than 70,000 lives a year..
We provide Non Pneumatic Anti-shock garments
The NASG reduces blood flow to the uterus and treats hypovolemic shock. It can keep a woman with PPH alive for up to 48 hours. Without it, she may bleed out within 30 minutes. This buys critical time to transfer a patient.
We provide Neo Natalie Live Simulators
NeoNatalie is an inflatable simulator designed to teach basic neonatal resuscitation skills. Developed to teach the initial steps of resuscitation in the first ten minutes of a newborn's life, NeoNatalie is an effective training tool.
